INSPIRE, LEAD, CONNECT, LIVE
It has been my personal goal to lead others to understand what family, friends and community experiences when one is living with dementia. I want to change the narrative to a more positive way of living. I have seen too many people struggle in my career with the way our culture has responded to Alzheimer’s and other dementias and I know there is a better way. If we work together, we can all make a change.
To those experiencing this: I want you to know, you and your family are not defined by the diagnosis, but rather, you are still person/s with a purpose that can live a full life. We want to inform the community with these dementia friendly efforts, to bring awareness and understanding of how to see YOU as human, because the diagnosis should not take that from you.

On May 4th 2017, People Living with Dementia, local professionals, and other leaders throughout the Bloomington Indiana community met to discuss and set goals in an effort to improve the lives of People Living with Dementia and their care partners by changing how our community supports, understands, and engages them. Since then, communities have spread across our state.
